Happy Rebirthing Ceremony To CinSom!
Ten years ago today, I was really annoyed with Wordpress or whatever and decided to jump ship. I saw what Blogger had to offer and fired this badboy up. The name Cinema Somnambulist was one of the potential names of my website before I settled on Doomed Moviethon. So here we are, 800+ blogginz AKA bloggoids later and I'm still going. I've met a lot of cool people through this blog and I've become extremely famous.
This entire paragraph will make all of my fellow bloggers out there roll their eyes (or maybe this whole blog is just an embarrassment). But the best thing about the heyday of the blog is that I felt compelled to have something new ready to post every week and sometimes every day. This meant that I had to keep churning out content which meant I was constantly practicing writing about movies. I don't think I got any better at writing but it became easier for me to work quickly. Wanting to churn out hundreds of movie reviews on my site was one thing but developing an informal, personal )though probably not at all unique) style that's way more fun to write in is quite another.
Two huge takeaways from this beautiful format are my theme months The Invasian [sic] and Franco Friday [super sic]. The Invasian was amazing because I needed more Asian horror, cult films, and classic anime in my life. And Franco Friday forced me to confront the intimidating body of work of the one and the only, Jess Franco. I've also been exploring films that were released in the year of my birth. Gosh, I'm old!
At some point, I decided that I wanted to hold all of this work in my own two hands. You can pick up a computer but they're pretty heavy, bro. I've learned that books are often lighter than your standard desktop computer. So I took my favorite posts from this very blog, kind of edited them, and put them in this book right here.
In the last few years, working on books and the podcast has meant that the blog suffers from my distracted attention. But I'll keep this thing going because these AOL/Time Warner bots won't feed themselves. I'd like to thank each and all of you readers and subscribers for checking in on me from time to time. And huge props to my fellow blogging buddies. Y'all are some seriously inspiring duders.

Doomed Movieton Broken - Cinema Somnambulist... THE BOOK!
So here we are in the 10th year of DoomedMoviethon.com and the site is down. Apparently, the web-hosting company I've been throwing money at for a decade is gone. Woops! Instead of screaming to the heavens and eating a bag of my own intestines, I'm taking this as an opportunity to revamp the old girl. The next time DoomedMoviethon.com is ready for your eyes, it'll be way hotter with some new content and a celebration of all the old stuff that's been what the site has been about all along. Apparently, people still like horror and cult movies! And double apparently there are some of you out there who STILL LIKE Doomed Moviethon! Thank you for that!
Speaking of recycled content, I wanted to announce right here, right now that I've been putting together another book. Say what!?!?! Yep, that's right. It's called Cinema Somnambulist and it's a collection of my writings on movies from this very blog and the aforementioned DoomedMoviethon.com. There's going to be approximately five chapters. All of my Franco Fridays, all of my nostalgic crap, and a bunch of Eurohorror and Asian horror stuff will be represented, just to name a few.
There will be very little material that is unique to the book but I really wanted to collect all of these pieces in one place just for myself. Then I thought, hey maybe some folks would like a copy too! Nice ego, Richard. But since it's a selfish exercise, I'm going to make the print as cheap as possible and offer the Kindle version for super cheap as well. Rest assured that Cinema Somnambulist is a passion project and not an empire-building money machine like everything else I do. Wait, what? Anyway, I hope you will enjoy it.

EurocultAV Doomed Moviethon Movie Party #2: Werewolf Shadow

Doomed Moviethon EurocultAV Movie Party #1 - Pieces
So we tried this over the weekend with a double feature of Graduation Day and Pieces but alas, I had a migraine and had to bail. So we're trying it again. Doomed Moviethon in conjunction with EurocultAV.com is having a Movie Party. At midnight EST this Saturday (that's 11pm for you Central Time peeps), we are going to have a showing of Pieces. Where is this happening? On Twitter and Facebook! Where else? I'm hoping that we can have this little Movie Party once a month.
So anyway, start the film at the stroke of midnight (or 11pm or whatever your corresponding time zone may be) and we'll all hang out and get destroyed like a BASTARD BASTARD BASTARD!! Remember, this event is this Saturday, 12/27/14. Be there or end up in Pieces. The hashtag for the event is #piecesofgeorge so don't forget to use it and abuse it.
