Mystery solved: Bloodbath at the House of Death

So yesterday I asked for some help with a barely remembered horror movie and Matthew Coniam of Carfax Abbey stepped in and quickly solved the mystery for me. Armed with only my very vague impression of the beginning of the film, he was able to nail it instantly. Oh yeah, duh, the film is Bloodbath at the House of Death! Because Matthew did such a spectacular job in helping me reclaim a piece of my first childhood (I'm on on my third or fourth now), he gets a super great prize... an embarrassing picture of me slingin' some mad rhymes:

Obviously, if I had watched Bloodbath at the House of Death in its entirety, I might have noticed that it was a comedy; a riotously hilarious comedy. But then again, I was a pretty dumb kid so who knows? I'm shocked that the unforgettable slaughter in the first 5 minutes of the film actually scared me as a kid. When I look at it now, I can't help but laugh my ass off. Hell, I didn't even get far enough in the film to discover that Vincent Price (who I already freakin' loved at that young age) was in it and camps up all of his horror roles magnificently. I found the film online fairly easily last night but I will definitely be picking up the awesome British DVD ASAP.

Check out Matthew's awesome write up here!

And here's the opening slaughter sequence that scared me:

  1. Glad I can be of service - and thanks for the prize. I'll treasure it always.
Are you on the level when you call it a "riotously hilarious comedy" though?
If so, welcome to my leper colony, now totalling two members and counting.

  2. I have a really, really dry sense of humor and Bloodbath had me in stitches, duder. The Alien parody at dinner had me rolling.

  3. That cover image alone has been intrigued! May have to check this one out.

And Richard? Thanks for the challenge. Consider it met...and in such a timely manner, too!
