@Kev D. - I first saw SCTV on Nick at Nite with my dad back when I was a kid. I would sit there and laugh and laugh and not get half of the references. In college, I was listening to a band called Don Caballero who was constantly referencing the show and it reignited my love of Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, John Candy, Andrea Martin, and the rest of the gang. Luckily, Shout! Factory has released a ton of the show and I've been slowly picking up each boxset. Classic stuff.
SCTV is tragically underrated.
ReplyDeleteAlong with Kids in the Hall it is among the ONLY sketch comedy shows that hold a candle to Monty Python.
